Steps to Volunteering
Get to know us - Get involved - Get CONNECTED.
Get Started
Apply -
Fill out our volunteer application. Your application will be reviewed by our volunteer coordinator and if it matches our current needs for our organization we will contact you with our next volunteer orientation.
Inform -
At the volunteer orientation, you will learn about our organization, volunteer opportunities, and be able to ask questions and decide weather volunteering with Lakeshore Lifeworks is a good fit for you.
Screen -
Because you'll be working with at-risk youth, a majority of our volunteer positions require a simple background check. Our process also includes an interview that will allow us to get to know you as well as what type of volunteer role would best match you.
Train -
Before starting your volunteer role with Lakeshore Life works, all volunteers will be asked to attend an orientation and at least a 2-hour training where you'll learn about the youth you will be working with and how to appropriately handle different scenarios and situations.
Start -
You will then be placed in a volunteering position that best suits your interests, time commitment, and personality.
Current Volunteer opportunities
Prayer groups
We believe the power of prayer changes lives. We would be so grateful if you would join us in praying for the youth we serve that HE would help heal their hearts and define their purpose.
Respite nights or weekends
Our house parents work diligently to provide a safe, learning environment for these youth. However, they need a chance to recharge and rest. By volunteering for a respite night or weekends, you allow them to do just that.
Transportation
A lot of our youth coming into LifeWorks have not yet had the opportunity to take the driver's education course to obtain their driving license. Therefore having transportation available to them for work, appointments and volunteering is very important.
Events
At LifeWorks we hold lots of fun events for our youth and our community. If you like to party plan or organize events, this is for you! You will be doing everything from decorating and setting up to helping run games and activities.
Administration
Do you love organization? Do you like to write thank you letters and help work with schedules? If so this would be the perfect volunteer position for you.
maintenance
Are you more of a hands on person, not afraid to get dirty? LifeWorks transitional homes are always in need of a little sprucing up. Fresh paint, some fresh flowers out front, new lighting and carpet are some of the jobs we are looking to find hands on volunteers for!
LifeWorks Current Projects
LifeWorks is always looking for ways to make the Program even better. We have a few projects that we are going to do this year! Projects such as a barn addition, a house remodel, and an improving our landscape. If you have skills in these areas and would like to share them with us, please apply!
